95% of your thoughts are repetitive so if you want something different than what you’re getting, you need to steer your thoughts in that direction…and repeat until you accept it as truth. In fact, the more strange an affirmation sounds to you, the more you need it!
Do affirmations work?
What people don’t realize is that they are affirming things everyday with their thoughts. You’re affirming some good things, some bad things, depends on your thoughts- thoughts are affirmations. “I’m not good at math”. “I am good at basketball.” Start paying attention to your thoughts and you’ll see how many sound like affirmations.
How do affirmations work?
The mind doesn’t know the difference between what is reality or not even though you are attached to your reality like its the gospel truth! But that’s why we can have illogical fears that sometimes baffle us or cry during a movie as if it were real.
How to use affirmations…
I’ll go into this more on the Ultimate Affirmations List. But definitely use repetition. You can’t brush your teeth once a month and call it good. Repetition helps the new thoughts become familiar. The brain looooves familiar (you’re a creature of habit 😉 With repetition the brain gradually accepts these affirmations and starts connecting your behavior and other aspects of your life to make those new thoughts more true.
