What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is one of many states we enter throughout our day, only we may not be aware of it or how to use it purposefully. Hypnosis is a type of focused attention when you’re in the “flow” or “in the zone”, deeply engaged in something to the exclusion of external stimuli. And it is also relaxed attention when you’re “zoning out”, daydreaming or watching a movie you enjoy.

In hypnosis, the critical (conscious) mind is subdued so that you can receive positive input with purposeful and helpful suggestions embedded into the subconscious. The subconscious is associated with our beliefs, automatic thoughts and behavior, and several systems in the body so you can imagine how powerful hypnotic suggestions are when they reach the subconscious.

What are the similarities and differences between hypnosis and meditation?

One goal of hypnosis, and meditation as well, is to reach an “altered state”. Altered states are associated with insight, focused attention, optimal wellbeing, success, creativity/imagination, peak performance, suspension of time and belief, and deep relaxation.

Both hypnosis and deep meditation occur in a Theta wave state. The difference is hypnosis is targeted brief therapy using various hypnotic tools such as desensitization, reframing, parts therapy, etc. for a specific purpose or problem (fear of flying, increase confidence, smoking, etc.) while meditation is a progressive, mindful practice that enhances general wellbeing over time.

I offer both Therapeutic Meditation and Hypnosis sessions.

What can Hypnosis do for me?

Hypnosis is known to help with over 200 things from self-confidence to grief recovery to weight loss to smoking and fears. Most of these have been studied involving successful outcomes with hypnosis.

(Results may vary depending on the experience of your Hypnotherapist. Unfortunately, many states and countries do not regulate Hypnotherapists. Please ask your Hypnotherapist for credentials, education, and experience. I have a Degree in Psychology, experience working at a Mental Health facility and in corporate Human Resources. I’m a certified Hypnotherapist with a full 1 1/2 -year training at the nation’s only accredited college of Hypnotherapy. I’m also a member of the American Hypnosis Association and the Hypnotherapist’s Union 472)

What is a typical Hypnosis session?

  1. First, contact me HERE to set up a FREE consultation. We’ll determine if hypnosis is right for you and your goal. You’ll also experience a relaxing guided visualization in session, as a bonus.
  2. When you’re ready, you can book a hypnosis session- about 90 min.
  3. You’ll receive a pre-session questionnaire to be filled out prior to your session.
  4. In session we’ll review your questions, goals and obstacles then I’ll gently guide you into hypnosis and afterwards we’ll discuss your “fun-work” or aftercare.

*You can achieve your goal in 1-3 sessions.

Can I be hypnotized (virtual/distance)?

Watching a movie on a screen and scrolling social media on an even smaller screen are examples of virtual trance-states. Everybody can enter at least a nice light trance state and this is enough to get results with hypnosis!

I use a pre-session questionnaire that determines how best to hypnotize you and reach your goals.

Zoom is an excellent platform for hypnosis as you are already relaxed in the comfort of your own home- you’ll never be “stuck” in hypnosis even if we’re disconnected. Through Zoom, I can still view the cues as you enter the hypnotic state. Distance hypnosis has been studied to be effective since early 2000’s.

What is Therapeutic Meditation?

Everyone has the answers within them (typically in the subconscious) in order to live their best life. Therapeutic Meditation is a guided visualization journey- an open, compassionate space to communicate and discover those answers, gain clarity, and resolve any conflict within oneself. It is the ultimate mind-body connection and a uniquely facilitated path forward. Schedule here.

Why should I meditate?

The benefits of a meditation practice are numerous and backed by excellent science. You can manage daily stress and harmful chronic stress while easing physical conditions, improving sleep and increasing creativity and productivity. Positive changes begin occurring before you’re even aware of them- from the inside out. It’s best to have a consistent meditation practice to get the full benefit.
